Geranium essential oil has a strong, sweet smell. In some locations, geranium plants grow more like trees, with massive stalks and flowers year round, reaching up to 10 feet tall. Our geranium comes from leaves and flowers of the pelargonium graveolens plant grown in Egypt.
Geranium is great for oily, dry, or mature skin. Topically, it can be used to repel mosquitoes or other bugs. Aromatically, it is excellent for increasing calm or helping promote restful sleep. Diffuse or apply in 2-5% dilution.
Geranium Egyptian Essential Oil has a scent that is both sweet and herbaceous, while carrying some subtle notes similar in character to Rose.
Geranium Oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and generally non-sensitizing. It can cause sensitivity in some people and due to the fact that it balances the hormonal system.
Avoid during pregnancy.
There are over 200 species of geranium, some scented and some not. The plants originated from South Africa as well as Reunion, Madagascar, Egypt and Morocco. They were introduced to European countries such as Italy, Spain and France in the 17th century. In early times geraniums were planted around the house to help keep evil sprits at bay.
